Darcy Ribeiro 100 years old. Darcy's greatness. Greatness as a paradox, among a people still small, or smaller than it would be. Darcy devotes herself to him: she tries to think about him, to configure him, to give voice to his 'nobody', he confuses himself with him from beginning to end. The centenary, as a rule, is a time to highlight a legacy. But how, if Darcy himself said, more than once, defeated? This defeat is however full of charms, encrusted in several of the great events of the country and the world, or even personal: love affairs. Of Darcy, perhaps one should say what Deleuze said of Proust: a process of intense liberation of signs. The decipherment of which is intertwined, in part, with the Brazilian enigma of the last hundred years. Returning to Darcy means rethinking our frustrated ontology, our not-yet-being. Darcy faced everything like a great living being. Perhaps it will take another hundred years to get closer to his imprudence.
