Relations between the verbal and visual in the infographics

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the functioning of verbal and visual in the space of journalistic discourse. We observe that the materiality significant of the visual infographic introduces flaws in the ideological ritual of journalistic writing, because there is an imaginary that with the image the information becomes true, real. In this imagery, we realized the failure of language that requires the image to manage and maintain the world semantically normal.

Silvia Regina Nunes é professora da Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso - UNEMAT - Campus Universitário de Pontes e Lacerda, e é doutoranda em Linguística pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Tem experiência na área de Linguística (Análise de Discurso). Atualmente, é membro dos Grupos de Pesquisa Cartografias da Linguagem (UNEMAT).
