Abstract

The paradoxes of the psychoanalytic concept of memory result from its epistemological specificity. A journey through Freud’s metapsychology is undertaken, highlighting that memory is intimately articulated to the constitution of the drives. It is also highlighted that the concept of memory in psychoanalysis is incompatible with the idea that the goal of the treatment was, for Freud, to remember. This objective only ran in a moment that could be called the pre-history of psychoanalysis.

Ana Maria Rudge é Doutora em Psicologia Clínica pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC/ RJ; docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicanálise, Saúde e Sociedade, da Universidade Veiga de Almeida, e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia Clínica, da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro. É psicanalista; pesquisadora do 1D CNPq e membro do GT da ANPEPP Psicopatologia e Psicanálise. É Editora-responsável da revista Tempo Psicanalítico. Atua principalmente nas seguintes áreas de pesquisa: psicanálise, metapsicologia, epistemologia da psicanálise, história da psicanalise, psicanálise, linguagem e cultura, e nos temas - trauma, supereu, pulsão de morte. Principais livros: Pulsão e Linguagem (Zahar); Traumas (Escuta); Trauma (Zahar).
