Abstract

ABSTRACT
We intend, in this paper, to produce a study about the metaphor from a specific theoretical place, which is the Semantics of the Events. To do that we are going to analyze the enunciative processes involved in enunciative events that build the meaning of some expressions, such as “he destroys the saxophone, the presentation is/was thrilling!”. This allows us to understand better the way that metaphors work as language events.

Eduardo Guimarães, State University of Campinas (Unicamp/Brazil)

Eduardo Guimarães é mestre e doutor pela Universidade de São Paulo. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Foi professor visitante na Universidade de Paris III e na Universidade de Buenos Aires. Atua e desenvolve pesquisa nas áreas de semântica da enunciação e história da ideias linguísticas. Dedica-se, também, a pensar a análise de textos a partir da semântica. É autor de grande número de artigos em periódicos brasileiros e estrangeiros e publicou livros como Texto e Argumentação; Os Limites do Sentido; História e Sentido na Linguagem (org.); Semântica do Acontecimento; História da Semântica: Sujeito, Sentido e Gramática no Brasil; Análise de Texto; Um dialogue Atlantique (co-org.); History of Linguistic 2002; Selected Papers from the Ninth International Conference on the History of the Language Sicences (co-org.). É membro de conselho editorial de vários periódicos especializados da área de Linguística e Diretor da Editora da Unicamp.
