Abstract

In this article, we aim to investigate how the author’s image construct the one of the precursors of language in Brazil, professor Joaquim Mattoso Câmara Jr. The theoretical basis, that mobilized the three discursive levels: the individual, the writer and the inscritor undertaken by Maingueneau (2006) and our corpus analysis and composed by prefaces three Brazilian journals published commemorating the birth centenary of Mattoso. After some analytical reflections showed us a picture of the author goes beyond the scholar inovator, but one who brought light to the Brazilian language studies.

Roberto Leiser Baronas, Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar / Brazil)

Roberto Leiser Baronas has a PhD in Linguistics and a professor at the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar - and the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics - PPGL. He is a productivity fellow at CNPq and coordinator of the Laboratory of Epistemological Studies and Multimodal Discursiveness - LEEDIM / CNPq / UFSCar and the Mattoso Institute of Language Studies - IMC.

Lígia Mara Boin Menossi de Araujo, Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar / Brazil)

Lígia Mara Boin Menossi de Araujo PhD in Linguistics from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar. Currently, he is a participant in the Laboratory of Epistemological Studies and Multimodal Discursiveness - LEEDIM / CNPq / UFSCar and the Mattoso Institute of Language Studies - IMC, he is postdoctoral researcher at the same institution where he develops research in the field of Discourse Analysis of French and Web 2.0 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Roberto Leiser Baronas.

Nayla Vieira Semensato, Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar / Brazil)

Nayla Vieira Semensato graduated in Linguistics from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar, a student of scientific initiation under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Roberto Leiser Baronas and fellow PIBIC-CNPq, participates in the Laboratory of Epistemological Studies and Multimodal Discursiveness - LEEDIM / CNPq / UFSCar and the Mattoso Institute of Language Studies - IMC.
