This text is an experience report from the PET Agronomy group at the Federal University of Recôncavo Baiano which, since 2013, has had an experimental area where, annually, agricultural crops are cultivated and scientific research is carried out for the development and dissemination of technologies in agriculture. To carry out this activity, the group discusses and selects the species that will be cultivated and research/management and evaluation projects are prepared to be carried out during the agricultural cultivation period. In addition to the pedagogical proposal, the experience also aims to develop and model a proposal for agricultural exploration and income generation for family farmers in Recôncavo, based on the cultivation of fruit species in a polyculture system with the application of conservation principles. Currently, the proposed system includes the following crops: guava, mango, banana, citrus, cashew, jabuticaba, pitaya, coconut, umbu-cajá, corn and cassava. The methodology consists of each student dedicating, on average, 4 hours a week, to developing this activity and field discussions with the presence of the Tutor and/or a guest teacher/technician, in addition to technical workshops and field days to disseminate information, implementing the teaching-research-extension tripod. The results are published at events and there are also plans to organize activities to disseminate the experience.
