Abstract

We are surrounded by hypertexts in our lives. Mostly of the information that flooded our daily lives are hypertextualized. Thus, new challenges of processing and production of mingled languages are imposed upon us, leading us to create semiotics and cognitive strategies to deal with such languages. What are they, what are the characteristics and how can we, intellectually; outlive the flow of hypertextualized data? This essay suggests some answers.

Antonio Carlos Xavier é Professor Titular em Linguística do Depto. de Letras da UFPE, Pesquisador-chefe do Núcleo de Estudos de Hipertexto e Tecnologias Educacionais – NEHTE, Coordenador do Mestrado Profissional em Letas (Profletras) da UFPE, pesquisador na área de aprendizagem com tecnologias digitais e autor de vários artigos e livros.
