Abstract

This experience report presents results of the research on Health in Santo Amaro: from the traditional knowledge of the rezadeiras/benzedeiras that aimed to analyze the medicinal and spiritual practices with the sacred. The ethnographic research was carried out with the prazeras, thus establishing borders with the rituals of healing, faith and devotion, in the learning processes, to the most varied types of diseases, prayers and cures, and thus, performed by them. The mourners / healers are women whose historical value, their blessings becoming a symbol of human resistance, in their practice on the blessings. However, it is important to foster in research, above all, their practices are also related to Catholic, Indian and African knowledge, with their religious "songs" and "prayers", bringing with them the desire of faith to result in their work for the practices revered so the people looking for them. The object is to try to walk through history, together with religious practices, realizing the innumerable implications produced by society. The ethnographic context of the research was the city of Santo Amaro.
