This work briefly presents the debut novel by Igbo / Nigerian author Chigozie Obioma, Os Pescadores. We will see how international criticism is comparing it with Chinua Achebe, author of O Mundo se Desaça. After that, we will briefly present the work showing the parallel that the author makes with the foundation of Nigeria. Finally, we will explore the ideas of the nation as imagined communities, a model incorporated by Africans through contact with the colonizers.
