Quando o cipó se envereda por Goiás: breve análise da construção cultural e da identidade ayahuasqueira no estado

Abstract

The present work seeks to analyze and understand the aspects of the ritual use of ayahuasca in Goiás, considering different
segments and religious strands in the debate on this use, in the process of cultural transformation and religious identity in
Goiás. We seek to ask: to what extent can the arrival of elements of amazonian culture, with exogenous religious contexts,
represent new forms of religious identities? Thus, the amalgam analyzed within a collective religious identity demarcates
popular culture. For this, studies by Hall (2006), Cruz (2007) and Domingues (2011) helped to understand a formative
process of identity and conceptual of a popular culture. Through this theoretical support and also historiographical elements
published by Martins (2018), we were able to observe the segments that use the ayahuasca drink in Goiás as groups that
have been growing since their recent arrival, which still allows for various interpretations and possibilities about their religious
hybrids formations.
