Abstract

In the second half of the twentieth century, Brazil was the stage for the emancipations of municipalities created from the dismemberment of others, in which they were the parent municipalities. This article seeks to study the movements of the emancipatory process that took place in the village of Varzedo, located in Bahia, between 1985 and 1989, focusing from its beginnings to the sanction given by the state government, aiming to also demonstrate the tools used by the “favorable” and “ unfavorable ”the political-administrative autonomy of that locality.
