Saúde mental, consumo de álcool, cigarros e outras drogas em adolescentes brasileiros: uma análise a partir da PeNSE 2019

Resumo

Este estudo investigou a associação entre fatores socioeconômicos, experimentação de álcool, cigarro e drogas ilícitas e a saúde mental de adolescentes brasileiros participantes da PeNSE 2019. A amostra foi composta por 124.898 estudantes de 13 a 17 anos. Adolescentes do sexo feminino apresentaram maiores chances de relatar tristeza (OR = 3,32) e perceber que a vida não vale a pena ser vivida (OR = 2,49). Aqueles que experimentaram álcool tiveram 2,10 vezes mais chances de sentir-se tristes e 2,23 vezes mais chances de considerar que a vida não vale a pena. A embriaguez aumentou essas probabilidades em 1,54 e 1,70 vezes, respectivamente. O uso de cigarro esteve associado a 1,91 vezes mais chances de relatar tristeza e 2,32 vezes mais chances de considerar que a vida não vale a pena. Já a experimentação de drogas ilícitas elevou em 1,89 e 2,22 vezes essas chances. Esses achados evidenciam que o uso de substâncias está fortemente associado a piores indicadores de saúde mental, reforçando a necessidade de políticas públicas de prevenção e promoção da saúde mental entre adolescentes brasileiros.
