Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the experience of the puerperal period of women. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, carried out between April and May 2023. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview with 11 postpartum women, in three Family Health Units of a municipality in the interior of Bahia. The data are analyzed using Bardin's content analysis technique. The investigation was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under opinion no. 5,757,598 and CAAE no. 64475422.6.0000.0055. The analysis emerges three categories: Expectation x Reality; Feelings experienced non-puerperium e; Support Network. The puerperium period is characterized by various changes in women's lives, as well as adaptation to the baby's routine, as well, this process can be exhausting, and is consolidated as a period of transitions and challenges. It is clear that the family plays a fundamental role in the postpartum period and that health professionals should not act only for the prevention of complications, but also for the emotional and physical help of the child's child.
