COVID-19: ETIOLOGIA, ASPECTOS CLÍNICOS, DIAGNÓSTICO, TRATAMENTO E EPIDEMIOLOGIA

Resumen

O novo coronavírus SARS-CoV2 é o agente causador da pandemia por Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Devido ao alcance e a gravidade da COVID-19, este trabalho objetiva realizar um levantamento das informações sobre a COVID-19, enfatizando aspectos como a patogênese, as manifestações clínicas, o diagnóstico e a epidemiologia, bem como os principais obstáculos ao enfrentamento da pandemia. Realizou-se o levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados MEDLINE, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, e PubMed utilizando palavras-chave “COVID-19”, “SARS-CoV2”, “Coronavírus”, “Síndrome respiratória” e “Gastrointestinal” nos idiomas inglês e português. A rápida transmissão do vírus tem sobrecarregado os sistemas de saúde em vários países, resultado do aumento súbito do número de casos e elevado número de óbitos. As medidas restritivas e preventivas têm sido relevantes na redução do número de casos confirmados da COVID-19. Entretanto, ainda existe a necessidade do desenvolvimento e distribuição de vacina, medicamentos e testes rápidos para melhor controle da pandemia.
