Natural Sciences in the didactic book on Youth and Adult Education: reflections and challenges

Abstract

The textbooks are resources widely used by teachers, from the curricular organization, planning and
development of their classes. The present study presents reflections about the proposals of formative
activities that interweave the relationship between teaching and learning, present in one of the Didactic
Books (LD) of the Collection "EJA Moderna: Education of Young and Adults of Nature Science". This
book was selected for research because it is currently being worked on in the second year of the second
elementary school in Creuslhi de Sousa Ramos, municipality of Confresa - MT. Through a basic research,
with a qualitative approach, this study considers the book as one of the main tools used by teachers, whose
effects influence the planning of the classes. The study was carried out during the second semester of
2016 and in the first months of 2017. The research was about the first chapter of this LD, entitled
"Chemistry in the day to day", unit 1, whose theme is Work. The topics covered in this chapter were: Materials, substances and mixtures; The separation of the mixtures; Chemical transformations; And
Chemistry in industries. The study sought to understand the way in which this material proposes both in
its presentation and in the activities related to science teaching, a formative process that provides the
student with the basic concepts related to the natural sciences and how this can contribute to the
production Knowledge and the development of students' critical sense, so that one can understand and
point out both the potentialities and the limitations present in the book in question.
