Abstract

In Chemistry Teaching it is necessary to plan, propose and carry out contextualized situations, in which  the student can build knowledge. The aim of the study was to develop contextualized activities to teach  chemistry to students in the 1st year of high school in a public school in Mato Grosso. In this approach,  he used low-cost resources, through a practical class held with classes from 1st year A and B from high  school at Cinco de Abril State School, located in the city of São José do Xingu / MT. This text reports  a survey followed by a pedagogical intervention that took place during the 2019 academic year. To  collect data, a semi-structured questionnaire was used. This pedagogical intervention was based on the investigative perspective, so that the student could elaborate hypotheses, test them, record, explain the  observations made in the experimental activity on Density and socialize their results through the report  of practical class, directed study and Battle of Knowledge: game sinks or floats. Based on the results  obtained through observation, development of the proposed activities and bimonthly evaluation, the activity, contributed to the increase of interest and motivation of them in chemistry classes, thus  improving student performance.
