Thematic Dossiers

The Thematic Dossiers section is intended for the publication of original scholarly works organized around a thematic axis previously defined and approved by the journal’s Editorial Board. Its purpose is to foster deeper engagement with contemporary debates, encourage the circulation of research of academic and social relevance, and broaden dialogue among researchers from different institutions, fields, and theoretical-methodological perspectives, provided that such contributions are aligned with the journal’s editorial scope.

Thematic dossiers may be proposed either by the journal’s editorial team or by guest editors, in accordance with the journal’s editorial guidelines, standards of scientific quality, and the relevance of the proposed theme to the journal’s field of knowledge. Each dossier shall be governed by a specific call for papers or notice, which will specify the theme, scope, schedule, organizers, types of manuscripts accepted, and any additional guidelines.

The submission of manuscripts to the dossier section implies full agreement with the journal’s editorial policy, author guidelines, and the specific rules set forth in the current call. Only original, unpublished works that are not under simultaneous consideration by another journal or publication venue will be accepted. Manuscripts must demonstrate theoretical and methodological consistency, scientific relevance, argumentative clarity, quality of academic writing, and effective adherence to the theme proposed for the respective dossier.

Authors must submit their manuscripts exclusively through the journal’s electronic submission system, correctly identifying the relevant section or dossier at the time of submission. Manuscripts must comply with the journal’s formatting, structure, citation, and reference requirements, and authors must also complete all metadata required by the system. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the submission being declined at the preliminary stage.

All manuscripts submitted to thematic dossiers initially undergo an editorial screening, during which the following aspects are assessed: alignment with the journal’s scope, relevance to the dossier theme, compliance with the journal’s guidelines, minimum standards of textual presentation, and observance of ethical and scientific principles. Manuscripts approved at this stage proceed to peer review, according to the model adopted by the journal, generally under a double-blind review system.

The evaluation process shall take into account, among other aspects, the relevance and originality of the contribution; the currency and consistency of the theoretical framework; methodological adequacy; the quality of the analysis and discussion; coherence between objectives, development, and conclusions; effective contribution to the field of knowledge; and adherence to the dossier theme. Editorial decisions may result in acceptance, acceptance subject to revisions, resubmission after substantial revision, or rejection, with the editorial team retaining final authority over publication decisions.

Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, the accuracy of the information presented, compliance with applicable ethical standards, and the scientific integrity of the work. When the research involves human participants, sensitive data, institutions, restricted documents, or any other element subject to ethical regulation, authors must provide the necessary information and approvals whenever required. Authors are also responsible for ensuring proper citation of sources, avoiding plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication or improper manipulation of data, and disclosing conflicts of interest, funding sources, and author contributions whenever required by the journal.

In cases where the manuscript involves technological development, the use of datasets, computational models, algorithmic resources, or digital tools, authors are encouraged to describe clearly the procedures adopted, the materials used, the validation strategies employed, and, where applicable, the conditions for reproducibility or replicability of the study, while respecting ethical, legal, and institutional limitations.

The publication of manuscripts in thematic dossiers does not exempt authors from compliance with the journal’s other policies, including those related to copyright, licensing, open access, digital preservation, retractions, corrections, and editorial conduct. The acceptance of a manuscript for a dossier depends both on its individual quality and on its compatibility with the thematic proposal and editorial composition of the section.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to make formal adjustments, request corrections, and decide on situations not expressly addressed in this policy or in the specific call for papers, always in accordance with the principles of editorial quality, transparency, fairness, and scientific integrity.
