THE SPEECH ACTS IN “THE REPUBLIC” BY PLATO. This literature review study aimed to explain in a practical way the theory of speech acts. About this theory, we defined the locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary and propositional acts. Illocutionary force classes were analyzed in the text The Republic by Plato. As support for the analyzes under the grammatical point of view, we have chose the theory of Sintagrammar by Francisco Dequi.We realized with this studythat the speech acts are always present in different types of discourse and that knowledge of the conditions of happiness for these reach their communicative purpose is important. The speech acts should also be considered a language skill that every individual needs developing.
