This article is an inherent part of ongoing master's research, presenting the state of knowledge of consolidated scientific productions from 2019 to 2023, which discuss the teaching of the Periodic Table. It focuses on the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of Science teachers, considered essential for the teaching and learning process. The literature review reveals a scarcity of studies that specifically address how educators mobilize pedagogical knowledge to teach the Periodic Table, highlighting the need to expand research on the topic. It also highlights the challenges faced by students, who often consider the Periodic Table to be an abstract and challenging topic, resulting in disinterest and resistance to learning. As a result, the data point to the need for teachers to adopt pedagogical actions such as scientific literacy, which connect theory and practice, promoting more dynamic and meaningful learning. Reflection on the pedagogical approaches adopted by the teacher in the classroom becomes fundamental during continuing education, contributing to improving the quality of Science teaching and consequently student learning.
