READING PRACTICES: AN APPLIED ANALYSIS OF THE TEACHING METHODOLOGY BASED ON THE REFERENCE MATRIX OF THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE

This article aims to investigate, through field research and qualitative approach, in which way the work of a Portuguese language teacher (in the classroom) promotes the development of reading skills and competences, taking into account the reference matrices of the Portuguese language of the third grade of High School. To do so, a questionnaire will be applied with the current high school teacher of a public school located in Catolé do Rocha-PB. It is important to highlight that the questionnaire was based on the Portuguese descriptors. Thereafter, an analysis of the results will be made and it will be also observed if the teacher’s methodology is related to the teaching methods and if the school offers assistance to teachers who are passing through difficulties regarding teaching, providing means to help them with their teaching methods. Considering this, we will use the theoretical contributions of Chiapini (1988), Silva (2005), among others. In general terms, we will investigate the professional’s methodology, listing the procedures that allow the development of the mentioned skills and competences of the students.
