Abstract

The issue of homosexual psychoanalysts is still immersed in embarrassment and denial, dating back to the first years of psychoanalysis organized as an institution and global-wide movement. The present work, through a research in archives, reports and published articles, covers the main moments of the history of the psychoanalytic movement that concern the proscription of homosexual candidates to the psychoanalytic training offered by the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). Aiming to raise the veil of a practice that for a long time remained unknown or ignored, it is intended to offer means for more conscientious reflections about psychoanalytic procedures and institutions.
