Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the role of continuous training and innovation strategies in the organizational performance of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Portugal. In the current context of globalization, HEIs must adopt strategies that can promote quality to increase their competitiveness, ensuring their sustainability in the medium and long term. In methodological terms, this research used data obtained from a survey addressed to members of Portuguese HEIs. Multiple linear regression was used to examine the relationships between the different variables considered. The results indicate that teacher continuous training, innovation, as well as HEI innovation strategies significantly influence the organizational performance of these institutions in the Portuguese context. The research is of particular importance considering the strategic role of HEIs for a country's economic growth and development.
