Editorial Letter: achievement and celebration, in memory of Márcio Roberto and Fabiana Andrade
Dear authors, board members, readers, and collaborators,
After four particularly challenging years, marked by the untimely loss of our journal’s editor-in-chief and our department’s director, we have the joy of honoring them both with the news that fólio has advanced four positions in the four-year Qualis assessment (2021–2024), moving from B3 to A3.
This result is a great achievement, due in large part to them, and we therefore dedicate it especially to the memory of our dear colleagues Márcio Roberto Soares Dias and Fabiana Andrade Santos.
After all, the 2021–2024 period was only completed by the work of the current team. For most of the four-year cycle, fólio was under the editorship of Márcio Roberto and Diógenes Cândido de Lima, associate editor and our dean. Alongside them, our success would not have been possible without the collaboration of the guest editors, who, drawing on their research backgrounds, proposed thematic calls and organized consistent, coherent, and relevant dossiers. They are: Ester Maria de Figueiredo Souza (UESB), Lúcia Gracia Ferreira Trindade (UFBA, UESB), Marcus Antônio Assis Lima (UESB), Catherine Santana Souza (UESC), Lucas Santos Campus (UESB), Alessandra Cruz de Oliveira (UESB), and Jorge Augusto da Silva (UESB). Finally, it was thanks to Fabiana Andrade’s care and competence in managing this delicate transition that we had the honor of inheriting the task and mission of concluding the assessment period in the best possible way.
Committed to continuing the principles that have guided this journal as a letters periodical dedicated to the open dissemination of knowledge in the broad field of Linguistics, Letters, and Arts, fólio has maintained the editorial processing of theoretical and applied works of high academic quality—works that consider disciplinary transversality in language studies, attentive to a world that demands dialogue in multiplicity and new consensuses for coexistence in diversity.
Over these two years at the helm of fólio, with four issues published so far, the new editorial team has implemented several changes in guidelines and practices, aiming to keep the journal updated in light of new horizons in academic publishing and integrated into the best knowledge production circles in Brazil and worldwide. Therefore, we are restructuring various aspects of management and developing an Editorial Development Plan with a view to reaching even further horizons.
We would like to thank immensely all of you who have believed in fólio during this transition period. We especially thank those authors who maintained their submissions despite the challenges we faced during the difficult transition, the board members and reviewers who generously collaborated to maintain the quality of our publications, and the readers who have trusted in the seriousness of our work.
The challenges to make our academic communication vehicle even more relevant in the field of Letters, its branches and interfaces, are many—and now greater.
