Abstract

This article analyzes the dramaturgical writings of Frantz Fanon (1925-1961) – the plays Mãos parallels and O Olho se drowne – within the general set of his work and from the context of his production, focusing on the themes of life, death and time. Our argument is that its themes and aesthetics offer new keys for understanding Fanonian thought and for interrogating human issues as universal as they are contemporary in their sociopolitical urgency. We intend to encourage discussion on these texts, still little read and discussed within Fanon's research, but full of possibilities for other realignments of his critique. The intentionally frag-mentary readings carried out here are intended to serve as a starting point for mobilizing Fanon's work as a vital instrument for understanding and confronting current colonial and racist realities.
