"QUE SE DANE": O FUNCIONAMENTO SEMÂNTICO DE BRASIL EM UM LIVRO DIDÁTICO

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the meaning of the word Brazil, from a clipping present in a textbook, a resource that actively participates in the academic development of students in schools across the country. When analyzing the meanings of Brazil in this materiality, we observe how national institutions are being seen by society. For this, we join the Semantics of the Event (SE), a theory developed by Guimarães (2002; 2018), which understands enunciation as a language event that produces meaning from the relationship between language and subject, this relationship being considered practical politics, since it establishes conflict at the center of saying. From this theoretical position, the enunciative event produces its own temporality, allowing the subject to speak taken by a memory of meanings and enunciations that make language work. To analyze the constitution of meanings of Brazil in the materiality of the textbook, we will use the analysis procedures proposed by SE, rewriting, articulation and Semantic Domain of Determination (SDD). The results obtained in this research point to a clash of meanings between Brazilian individualism and environmental and collective interests, although there are no reflections on the subject in the teaching material.
