MEMES NAS REDES SOCIAIS: DA REPRODUÇÃO DE PRECONCEITO À COMPREENSÃO DE FENÔMENOS DE VARIAÇÃO E MUDANÇA LINGUÍSTICAS

Abstract

There are movements that report discriminatory acts, like racism, sexism, homophobia, however, there are few efforts to discourage the linguistic prejudice. In the virtual universe has been common the use of “memes” that make jokes from presentation of specific expressions of forms of language, used by people of the popular classes. Messages of this nature feed social discrimination, from language. The aim of this work is to present a proposal for the exploration of "memes" in Portuguese language classes, as an action to combat linguistic prejudice, in order to indicate, on the one hand, the richness of the linguistic variation, on the other hand the potential of changes in the language from variant forms. The theoretical contribution is based on Historical Linguistics. The methodology consists in presenting, in parallel, facts of variation, occurred in past moments. We hope to contemplate Portuguese teachers, Languages students and people interested in the demystification of this prejudice.
