Resumo

O objetivo deste artigo é discutir os usos do marcador discursivo (MD) “yeah”, em inglês e a tradução para o português brasileiro em formato de legendas amadoras, empregado pelo personagem Dylan, na série de TV Bates Motel. Verifica-se como o personagem utiliza esse MD para construir posicionamentos epistêmicos e interpessoais quando interage com a mãe, Norma. Utilizaram-se programas do WordSmith Tools para alinhamento dos arquivos de transcrição de áudio e legendas, identificação dos marcadores usados por Dylan e observação do contexto de uso de “yeah” e suas traduções nas legendas. Observa-se que, tanto em inglês quanto em PB, Dylan adota variados posicionamentos, mostrando-se correto, irredutível, irônico.

Janailton Mick Vitor da Silva é doutorando em Estudos Linguísticos na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Mestre em Estudos da Tradução (2018) pela Universidade de Brasília (UnB) e Licenciado em Letras-Língua Inglesa (2015) pela UFCG. É professor de Língua Inglesa no Instituto Federal de Brasília (IFB).
