"¿Estoy loco? Si." Conflictos y certezas en los subtítulos amateur de la serie de televisión Bates Motel

Resumen

El objetivo de este artículo es discutir los usos del marcador discursivo (MD) “yeah”, en inglés y la traducción al portugués brasileño (PB) en el formato de subtítulos amateur, utilizado por el personaje Dylan, en la serie de televisión Bates Motel. Se verifica cómo el personaje utiliza esta MD para construir posiciones epistémicas e interpersonales al interactuar con su madre, Norma. Se utilizaron programas WordSmith Tools para alinear los archivos de transcripción de audio y los subtítulos, identificar los marcadores utilizados por Dylan y observar el contexto de uso del “yeah” y sus traducciones en los subtítulos. Se observa que, tanto en inglés como en PB, Dylan adopta posiciones diferentes, mostrándose correcto, irreductible, irónico.

Janailton Mick Vitor da Silva é doutorando em Estudos Linguísticos na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Mestre em Estudos da Tradução (2018) pela Universidade de Brasília (UnB) e Licenciado em Letras-Língua Inglesa (2015) pela UFCG. É professor de Língua Inglesa no Instituto Federal de Brasília (IFB).
