Introducción a la lingüística popular de la política lingüística

Resumen

Los individuos de una comunidad de hablantes participan en la política lingüística. Interpretan y aplican el conocimiento y las creencias populares sobre el idioma para dar vida a las políticas lingüísticas, e incluso crean medidas para resolver los dilemas del idioma local. Estos individuos son, de hecho, lingüistas populares. La lingüística popular examina las diversas formas en que un pueblo, sin formación lingüística, realiza la lingüística como ciencia. Sin embargo, en el caso de la política lingüística, la lingüística popular se ha reservado para investigar las dinámicas socioculturales que conciernen a la vida pública. Propongo una concepción holística de la política lingüística dentro del programa de investigación en lingüística popular. Esto permite un paradigma más amplio para analizar no solo lo que las personas entienden sobre las políticas lingüísticas, sino también qué tipo de conocimiento popular existe sobre las políticas lingüísticas y qué conocimientos y creencias aplican los lingüistas populares para desarrollar la política lingüística.

Nathan Albury, Universiteit Leiden (LEI/Holanda/Países Baixos)

Nathan John Albury é doutor em sociolinguística pela Universidade de Oslo. É bolsista do programa Marie Curie COFUND LEaDing Fellows na Universidade de Leiden. Antes disso, ele foi professor assistente de sociolinguística e linguística aplicada na Universidade Politécnica de Hong Kong. Suas pesquisas versam sobre política e planejamento linguístico, atitudes e ideologias linguísticas, linguística popular, consciência linguística, linguagem e etnia e construção de língua e nação.
