This study aims to report the experience and implementation of a lesson plan using active methodologies, organized in a pedagogical competition format, for semiology monitoring activities of the hematopoietic system module of the Nursing course at Universidade Vale do Acaraú. The pedagogical competition, called “Gymkhana of the Hematopoietic System”, was developed in August 2017, in three moments. During this period, it was possible to carry out theoretical and practical activities based on expository-interactive classes, test resolutions, games of myths and truths, analysis of sentences and game board. This study contributes to Nursing Science by providing the use of pedagogical games to be used as a didactic resource in teaching process, while providing a playful learning process. Academic adherence to activities that deviated from the expository classroom model was perceptible.
