This paper presents a reflection on the way that contemporary Africa articulates the customary rights and justice to Western molds, thinking more specifically the case of Rwanda after the 1994 genocide in which the Gacaca courts and Abunzi were gestated to accomplish this link. In this sense, we seek to enable weights of how Rwandans articulated issues involving crimes against humanity and a modern perception of law, with their traditional practices of their customary societies.
