Abstract

This research aims to analyze the phonetic structures of oral vowels in the Lomwe (P32) language, with a view to comparing the acoustic correlates of frequency and duration, using spectra generated by the PRAAT software.  The results indicate that there are relevant differences in the duration of long and short vowels, equally, the nature of the short counterpart determines the duration and frequency of the acoustic formants of long vowels.
