Infâncias afrofuturistas, cabelo crespo e sankofa: a estética como estratégia de resistência

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the appreciation of curly hair in children as an aesthetic-political resistance based on the relationships between the concepts of childhood, afrofuturism, curly hair and sankofa. The article is epistemologically based on some interdisciplinary and Afro-centered theoretical perspectives; and the methodology was based on participant observation in marches and meetings to value black aesthetics between 2014 and 2019 in nine Brazilian capitals. Based on this theoretical-methodological framework, childhood was situated as a starting point for thinking about ethnic-racial relations in the diaspora, in order to envision new epistemological, aesthetic and political productions that distance themselves from colonial subjective elaborations. Opening paths and possibilities, reconnecting with the past supported by memories, stories and aesthetics of African culture is also having the condition to change the future. Therefore, this thought can lead to the construction of possible routes for social reparation and convergence of practices based on African aesthetic values and meanings.
