This article presents the results of a quantitative study on the factors associated with student retention and academic success in higher education. The research aimed to analyze the factors that influence student persistence and involved the application of an instrument to students from different programs, analyzing variables related to academic and social adaptation, perceived course quality, teaching practices, institutional management, and study dedication, in addition to sociodemographic data. Through Spearman correlation analyses and linear regression, significant associations were identified between students’ adaptation and their evaluations of the university experience. The findings highlight the importance of an integrative approach to retention, considering academic, institutional, and intrinsic factors. The results align with the Integrative Model for Student Persistence and Academic Success (MIPESA) and provide important inputs for institutional decision-making and planning of actions to promote student retention and academic success. They may also contribute to the formulation of evidence-based educational policies
