This work aims to analyze the process of literary formation of rural subjects in a school in relation to the peasant reality and the exercise of reading practice in a public school in the municipality Brumado – BA. As a research problem, there are coexisting impasses that distance peasants from access to literary reading. The methodological approach required bibliographical and field research, with a qualitative approach, supported by semi-structured interviews with six high school students who lives in a countryside and study at the State Center for Professional Education in Management and Environment (CEEP).In the end, we aim for the contribution of the research to the academic and social spheres, since there is a need establish this discussion about the teaching of Literature and reading practices in light of the reality of peasants students.
