Literacy and alphabetization: intertwined processes in the discovery of writing

Abstract

This experience report aims to share a didactic sequence, which is part of the project "Retextualization: reading, telling, retelling, and representing", experienced with 2nd-grade students in Elementary School. The purpose of the activities was to contribute to the expansion of the children's literacy and their understanding of the alphabetic writing system, in addition to promoting greater interaction within the class. The activities starting point was the reading of the book ”Quem me dera”, by Ana Maria Machado. In our analysis, we utilized a qualitative approach, supported by the studies of Ferreiro (2011), Soares (2021), and the DCRFor document (Fortaleza, 2024). The results showed that there was an expansion of the children's literacies, including linguistic, scientific, and literary literacy. It is thus understood that participation in experiences with sense and meaning makes the process of reading and writing more interesting and engaging.
