This article analyzes the various dimensions of educational inequality in Brazil, based on the study by Sampaio and Oliveira (2015) and classic and contemporary theoretical repertoires, such as Bourdieu, Freire, Saviani, Cury, and Dubet. The objective is to discuss the dimensions of social inequalities in the field of education in order to understand the structural obstacles that hinder the guarantee of education as a right for all. In addition to the theoretical review, the study presents data from national agencies, such as the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (INEP) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), to demonstrate the advances and limitations of public policies, such as the National Education Plan (PNE), in addressing inequalities. Therefore, the discussion shows that, although Brazil has increased access to education, equity is still a long way off, as unequal treatment and different outcomes between social groups persist and reinforce historical inequalities.
