In the historical development of physical geography, different authors have contributed to the methodological advancement of understanding reality in this scientific field. In the Brazilian context, one of the main figures was Tricart (1977) through his classification into ecodynamic units: stable, intermediate, and highly unstable environments. This article aims to comprehend the contributions of this author to Brazilian physical geography, based on his work "Ecodinâmica" (Ecodynamics). From Tricart's morphodynamic classification (1977), it can be observed that his contributions are significantly meaningful and influential for studies in Physical Geography, particularly regarding research addressing systems in which physical environments exhibit integrated relationships, where the landscape is characterized by its dynamism and mutual influences among elements.
