Eucalyptus is the most widely planted exotic species in Portuguese forestry. Based on bibliographical research, socio-environmental analysis, and fieldwork, this study examined the role of eucalyptus silviculture in the NUTs III of AVE, in northwest Portugal, and its environmental impact concerning wildland fires. Given the species' dominance and high flammability, the research covered its introduction to the region through the latest official data (2015-2018). The findings showed that most fires are human-caused and worsened by poor forest management and extreme weather events, leading to more frequent and severe fires, with significant impacts on nature and society, particularly in Urban-Forest Interfaces.
