Abstract

ABSTRACT

This article aims to briefly summarize the trajectory of the insertion of extension in the Brazilian university and demonstrate its importance for carrying out the university function of contributing to cultural, technological and social, local, regional and national development, taking as a basis the experience developed through the extension project, entitled Women's Service Center (NAM), of the Law Course at the State University of Southwest Bahia-UESB. In this sense, it is a theoretical and descriptive work that was based on constitutional provisions, legislative texts and norms produced by the university, as well as the contribution of authors who focused on the theme of university extension in Brazil, such as, for example, Noronha (2005; 2013), Paula (2013) and FORPROEX (1987; 2001; 2007 and 2012).
