This article aims to present a theoretical discussion based on an interpretative analysis of the Iranian film “The Day I Became a Woman” (2000) by director Marziyeh Meshkini. The feature-length film, in episodic format, tells the story of three women, at different stages of life, showing us the experiences lived by women in Iran. The veil, which opens the first image of the film, is also used as a sail for a raft, was chosen as the key object for our interpretation, as it represents Iranian women in the context of their different social performances.
