Reverse racism and the Trainee Magazine Luiza 2021 Program

Abstract

The precariousness or even the absence of public policies that effectively contribute to the reduction of racial inequality makes it difficult for blacks to occupy positions considered of greater prominence, prestige in the private sector and in the public service. In fact, in this sense, despite the common sense that racism does not exist in Brazil, any initiatives for racial inclusion are widely criticized, especially in the context of social networks, by individuals opposed to black protagonism in the world of work. Even from this perspective, in the technological interactional environment mediated by the internet, many internet users accuse the marks of reverse racism when the protagonism is not white. But, is there reverse racism in the country? From there, then, this article seeks to problematize the issue of the existence of reverse racism, based on the disputed narratives produced in the context of the Magazine Luiza retail chain's initiative to open vacancies only for blacks for the position of trainee.
