Traces, “black soots” and “spell”: traces of africanity in the constitution of a black-brazilian philosophy

Abstract

This article responds to the provocations of the enchanted beings who work in the construction of our Afro-Brazilian Philosophy, stimulating the creation of new epistemologies through the making-black centered on the mystery, on the Vital Force, on the dialogue with the Drum and the Batuque and on the power of the Word. , all these ancestral knowledge that fill and guide our academic formation as women and black-peripheral people. We will use the terms “Afro-Brazilian Philosophy” or “Black-Brazilian Philosophy” to address these types of knowledge without any differentiation between them. We are two researchers who work on the traces of Africanity in artistic and sociocultural expressions, seeking their meanings and political impacts in contemporary times. Through studies in the social sciences, ethnic-racial relations and the artistic field, we want to identify, investigate and record the black-Brazilian philosophy, the founder of an epistemology proposed by black women, based on the African legacy and guided by the dialogue between material and immaterial. . We wish to propose new perspectives on the history(s) of the ancestors and descendants of Africans, contributing to the strengthening and re-construction of the western social imaginary in the sense of anti-racist emancipation. The proposal in question in this article points out sophisticated cultural expressions of the black community, which corroborate the resignification of this collectivity deprived of its humanity by the racist structure.
