THE EDUCATIONAL POLICY FOR WOMEN IN PRISON SITUATION: A CASE STUDY IN THE CRIMINAL SET NILTON GONÇALVES

Abstract

This article presents an excerpt from a research work for the conclusion of the course, whose objective was to analyze the specificities of how Youth and Adult Education – EJA – occurs for women who live in prison, as well as the contributions and limitations of the educational process for resignification and reintegration into society. Specifically, the research proposes to understand how Youth and Adult Education occurs in the female penitentiary system; point out the contributions of EJA in the process of schooling and reintegration of women who live in prison; and to identify the difficulties and limitations encountered in promoting school learning in the female prison system at Conjunto Penal Advogado Nilton Gonçalves in Vitória da Conquista–BA. We opted for an exploratory, qualitative research with a view to developing a case study. The research points to the need to establish an educational process that contributes to the re-signification and re-socialization of the incarcerated person, as well as programs with socio-educational practices that are guaranteed by law, but that rarely happen in practice.
