TERRITORIES AND DESTERRITORIALIZATION ON THE NOVEL A MORTE E O METEORO (2019), BY JOCA REINERS TERRON.

Abstract

The object of analysis of this work is the novel A Morte e o Meteoro (2019), by Joca Reiners Terron, an apocalyptic story developed in Latin American territory. Its focus of analysis is on the processes of  erasing the social and cultural properties of a fictitious Amerindian Society in the Brazilian Amazon, the kaajapukugi, resulting from the history of concrete and symbolic territorial violence. The analysis initiates from the theoretical understanding of the practices on the deterritorialization in Latin America, the migratory attitudes of indigenous society and the cultural transversalities in the national continent. At the end, the mythical imaginary of the indigenous tribe is contrasted with the narrator characters, in order to perceive the differences between them about the preservation of an identity genealogy.
