This work seeks to explain, from the decolonial theory, dogmas and oppressive precepts that circumscribe the dominating x dominated relationship, which comes very similarly to the colonizing x colonized relationship, explaining that even in the absence of colonial politics, the existence of coloniality is creeped through the modern world. Thinking about how these issues affect the literary environment, we seek to make an analysis of the work Compasso Binário (1972), by Arlete Nogueira da Cruz, which is usually marginalized, both because it is written by a woman and by the issues involving taboos, portraying oppressive patriarchy and violence against the female body, thus focusing on gender coloniality. Thus, this work explains the analysis of the characters Baianinha and Natalia, being a prostitute and the other student and medical intern, and consequently are part of different wings of Ludovicense society, however the characters have their lives crossed in the narrative from male domination and violence. Thus, it is based on the general objective of performing an analytical reading under the approach of the decoloniality of the Maranhão novel Compasso Binário (1972) by the writer Arlete Nogueira da Cruz; regarding the specific objectives, the aim is to verify how the novel Compasso Binário relates to the aspects that reverberate gender coloniality; and, to analyze how the situations of pater-colonial domination that are problematized in the narrative. For this, the studies of Lugones (2008), Maldonado-Torres (2016), and Mignolo (2017) are used.
