The extension action Engenhação - Food Engineering in Action, is an activity that uses the skills and competencies of students and faculty of the Food Engineering course to bring to the community topics related to the areas of food engineering, science and technology, pertinent to the Food Engineer. This report aimed to present the experiences of PETI Food Engineering students and participants in the extension event held with children and adolescents by Engineering in the year 2023. This was carried out at the State University of Southwest Bahia, with the audience being the target of their actions are children and adolescents in elementary school I and II from public schools and other institutions in the city of Itapetinga, BA. To carry out this project, practical activities were used as methodological tools focusing on starch as a theme from its removal to processing with a focus on the responsibilities of the Food Engineering course. At the end of the project, it was observed that the activities were satisfactory in relation to the content covered, as there were many questions and reports from the children, thus demonstrating interest in the topics involved. It was notable how constructive and productive these exchanges of experiences were between the community and the scholarship holders, as they had the opportunity to communicate to the participants in simple and clear language what they learned in their experiences as students. The actions were also of great contribution to the Petianos who participated, as they contributed to their professional development.
