Down syndrome: the role of neurolinguistics in the acquisition of the possessive pronomen

Abstract

In this work, we present results of research that had as objective to analyze the appropriation process of the "my/my" possessive pronoun in the functioning of the acquisition of the language of a young person with Down syndrome (SD) and with intellectual deficit, attended by the Research Group "Speak Down", in the Research and Studies Laboratory in Neurolinguistics (LAPEN) of the State University of Southwest of Bahia (UESB). The results indicated that JR presented gains in the acquisition of the possessive pronouns by the experience of social practices mediated by the other and through linguistic reflection.

Carla Salati Almeida Ghirello-Pires, State University of Southwest of Bahia (UESB/Brazil)

Carla Salati Almeida Ghirello-Pires holds a postdoctoral degree in Psychology from the State University of Maringá (UEM); PhD in Linguistics - Neurolinguistics - from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP); Master in Psychology from the University of São Paulo (USP); Speech therapist from the Pontifical University of Campinas (PUCCamp). She is a professor at the Department of Linguistic and Literary Studies (DELL) and the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics (PPGLin) at the State University of Southwest Bahia (UESB). She is a researcher responsible for the Research Group "Fala Down" of the Laboratory of Studies and Research in Neurolinguistics (LAPEN) of the State University of Southwest of Bahia (UESB), campus of Vitoria Conquista (BA).

Nayra Marinho Silva, State University of Southwest of Bahia (UESB/Brazil)

Nayra Marinho Silva holds a Master's Degree in Linguistics from the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics (PPGLin) of Vernáculas by the State University of Southwest of Bahia. She is an Interprete de Libras teacher, graduated in Literature from the same Institution.
