ARGUMENTAÇÃO EM VOZES QUE CONSTITUEM O CAMPUS AVANÇADO DA UERN DE PAU DOS FERROS

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the argumentation in speeches that constitute the Advanced Campus of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN) of Pau dos Ferros, focusing on the production of effects of senses and presence resources. We used as a source of investigation the Corpus “Vozes”, constituted during the years 2011 to 2014 in institutional research of scientific initiation, financed by the National Research Council (CNPq), at UERN-Advanced Campus of Pau dos Ferros, Department of Letters. The theoretical contribution comes from the discussions presented in the work treated on argumentation: the new rhetoric (OLBRECHTS-TYTECA; PERELMAN, 1993, 1996, 1999), of studies affiliated with the scholars of the treaty (REBOUL, 2004; SOUZA, 2008), of dialogic theory language (BAKHTIN, 2003) and studies on meaning effects (SOUZA, 2003). The methodology is situated in a descriptive and interpretative character, having as a basis for the analysis the theoretical studies presented in this research. For the analysis, we selected two discourses from the corpus that have not yet been analyzed, namely: ex-rector and ex-teacher. The results suggest that many arguments and meaning effects are revealed in the discourses produced, which start from the facts and narratives that found the University, from the opposition of yesterday and today, opinions about the quality of teaching, administration, even human relations. Finally, these meanings are constituted from the resources of presence in the discourse, especially through the narratives, because, as Perelman (1993) says, the narrative bears witness to the effect of presence.
