The departure, the arrival, the fresh start and the hope of returning made Homo Sapiens an animal that is distinguished from other animals by its wandering characteristics. Despite the existence of other nomadic beings, man is the only one capable of establishing imaginary ties with his territory, which are passed on, in the form of nostalgia, to his descendants. In this way, the idea of an imaginary subject who belonged to a homeland and created new ties in another territory, adding to its culture the culture of other peoples who inhabit the new homeland, shows itself as a paradox between belonging and not. -belonging, considering that nations assume the role of imagined communities. Based on this principle, the present work will seek diasporic elements in the poems of Helena Kolody, from Paraná, which show the cultural mix of the Ukrainian communities established in Brazil from the mid-nineteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century between Slavic and Brazilian cultures. Therefore, the representation of the Ukrainian immigrant in Brazil will address the hypothetical emergence of a new subject, mixed by two cultures, which takes root with the new place without forgetting the land of its ancestors. In order to do so, theories about diaspora will be taken into account, especially those discussed by Stuart Hall, as well as cultural studies, by the voice of Terry Eagleton, which, added to literary theory, will have their scope turned to the verses of the aforementioned writer. , in an analytical and theoretical movement.
